Value Engineering

Sand Lake Road

Client: FDOT District 5 PRINCE Contracting
Location: Orange County, Florida
Construction Cost: $75.8 Million
Team: PRINCE Contracting

PRINCE Contracting was very motivated to win this major project located in their backyard so they called PHD to assist with value engineering services. PHD developed an innovative MOT solution that supported construction of new concrete pavement from Greenbriar Parkway to west of John Young Parkway including the Shingle Creek Bridge Replacement. PHD’s design eliminated significant quantities of temporary wire walls and temporary pavement, increased the available work zones enabling for better construction quality of the new concrete pavement and reduced the number of phases required.

The innovative concept was vetted prior to bid and enabled PRINCE to beat the 2nd place bidder by nearly $7 million. Final plans approval is expected within 2 months of NTP allowing PRINCE to begin with no impacts to the overall schedule. This effort was a win for FDOT District 5 and PRINCE.
